The official opening of Dunkineely Community Hall and the launch of the Dunkineely, Killaghtee, Brenter and surrounding areas Community Development Plan took place on Sunday  July 7  2019.

The sun shone down on our community as John B O'Donnell, Chairman of the Hall Committee, cut the ribbon and declared the newly refurbished hall officially open.
He said:

"We would like to thank our recently elected / returned local Councillors, Niamh Kennedy, Noel Jordan and Michael McMahon who took the time to come and share in our celebrations. Thomas Pringle our local TD was also present; thank you to you all! We would particularly like to thank Niamh as she was instrumental in guiding us through the funding application process that secured the funding for the Hall Renovation and the Community Development Plan.

"The Killaghtee Accordion Band were fantastic as was Martin Wilson, Kevin O'Donnell and his students. Music always bring a smile to your face, as does dancing. Nicole Murphy danced for us and showed us why she was a medal winner at a recent Feis Ceoil. Well done to all.

"John B O'Donnell, on behalf of the Hall Committee, and Rev Des Davis, on behalf of DCL, thanked everybody who had contributed to making this day possible. Kate Wilkinson, the author of Development plan emphasised how important it is to now act upon the contents of the plan."

Thanks were expressed to Dominic McCahill for providing an excellent sound system for the event, and thanks too to the ladies of the Hall Committee who kept us fed and watered.

Thanks were expressed  to all who came along and made the day special.
