A meeting is being held in Stranorlar to see how best to protect red squirrels in the area.
The Donegal Red Squirrel Group is calling on interested people to join their conservation efforts. Members will be present at this important meeting to discuss ways to secure the future of the native red squirrel.
It is well documented that the biggest threat to the species is the non-native grey squirrel. Not only do grey squirrels quickly decimate populations of reds, they have a destructive impact on local woodland and other wildlife.
Ulster Wildlife's Michael Stinson who is red squirrel officer for Fermanagh and Tyrone will also be present to share his expertise.
The meeting takes place on Wednesday, September 18 at 7.30pm in Kee's Hotel, Stranorlar.
