Pupils of Scoil an Linbh Íosa, Killymard were delighted to receive their new Buddy Bench made especially for them by Donegal Town Men’s Shed.

Members of the Men’s Shed presented the bench to the school recently. Pupils, staff, Board of Management representatives and the Parents’ Association were all there for the presentation.

Enda Faulkner from Donegal Town Men’s Shed explained the concept of the Buddy Bench.

He told the pupils: “It is somewhere to go if you’re feeling sad or lonely, if you miss somebody or if you’re best friend is not in, or if you just want somebody to talk to you, then you sit on the bench.

“You can make new friends very easily by sitting there. Someone will come over and talk to you.”

Acting Principal Catriona Boyle thanked the Men’s Shed, as did Chairperson of Parents’ Association Sandra Perry.

The Buddy Bench is a bright and beautiful addition to the schoolyard. It arrived just in time for First Holy Communions which took place last Saturday.
